Introduction

Description
This module is part of a complete training cycle covering all aspects of Building Information Modeling, from the basics to tools for the BIM Manager, including training for the BIM Coordinator.
This comprehensive training course aims to provide the theoretical and practical foundations for managing BIM within a company, in terms of configuration, methodology, quality control and managing exchanges with other stakeholders.
Objectives
- A methodology for implementing BIM within a company
- To be able to implement the requirements of a BEP (BIM execution plan) within the company, at software level, and to have it respected by the company’s modelers.
Program
- Mission of the BIM coordinator :
- role, software selectiondefinition and implementation of internal processes
- Case studies
- IFC model quality control
- Demonstration of the main features available on the market, from basic to more advanced (several softwares, including 1 free of charge).
- Practical application on one of the softwares presented and application to the personal project
- Modeling rules, EIR compliance, interference, advanced controls…
- IFC advanced module :
- Implementing the standard in software
- Reading an IFC file and using online ressources from BuildingSmart International
- Case studies: problems and solutions
- Quantity extraction + generation of schedules from 3D model
- Theory of quantity extraction methods according to project phases
- Demonstrate the functionalities available on different solutions (including modeling software and free tools)
- Implementation principles at a company level
- Collaborative workshop (project): on the basis of the BIM models provided (1 discipline by attendee), each participant will analyze the model and carry out a project review with the other disciplines (architecture, structural and MEP engineers). The project will be spread over the duration of the training course (around 2 months) and will enable participants to put into practice the tools and topics covered during the course. Project deliverables :
- Coordinated model to provide
- Analysis methodology report
Duration – 4 days, 32h + an in-home project
- Day 1: Theory and launch of the collaborative project, 8 hours
- Day 2: IFC model quality control & Quantity extraction
- Day 3: Advanced IFC
- Jour 4 : Debriefing projet
- Personal project delivery
Prerequisites
Have successfully completed the following training courses:
- BIM – Basics
- Modeling tools – Getting started
- BIM – Referent
- BIM – Modeler (including “BIM exchanges and methods” tool)
Target audience
The people who will be responsible for BIM within their company: architects, consulting engineers, technical engineers, interior designers, town and country planners, surveyors, government agencies, developers, construction companies (shell and finish work), etc.
