6. IFC SETTINGS AND EXPORT

  • Configure the translator with the IFC mapping adapted to the active phase of the project
  • Save the IFC file: menu file > save as > select the IFC type and the translator adapted to the active phase of the project
  • If a property has no value defined in Archicad, neither the property nor the value will appear in the IFC. It is therefore necessary to check that all values are completed before exporting. We recommend the use of BOMs by object type to quickly check that nothing is missing.
  • If a property has a value in Archicad but is not mapped in IFC (for example we are in APS and you have already defined the requested value in SOU), then this property will not appear in IFC. This allows you to export in IFC only the properties expected for the current phase, without having to delete the information in the native model required in later phases.
  • If some objects do not appear in an IFC viewer, it is recommended to check in another viewer (e.g. free BIMcollab ZOOM) if the problem is also present, it is sometimes a matter of shortcomings in the implementation of the IFC standard and updates in the viewers.

PRECAUTION :

  • If you make changes to the properties (reload properties file and/or classification), then you will have to reload the IFC mapping file because the mapping only works with the properties present in the project at the time of the mapping file import.
