4.3. MAPPING CATEGORIES REVIT, PRECAUTIONS AND DETAILS

In revit, it is important to respect the Revit categories listed below in order to have the required properties in Revit.
In IFC, it is important to respect the IFC class in the GID sheet so that all properties defined in Revit are present in the IFC.

Precautions and details
It should be noted that some properties or attributes do not work satisfactorily. It is therefore the responsibility of the modeler to check if each required property is present, before and after IFC export, see also 5. Quality control before IFC export and 7. Control and export of the IFC. We have also noticed that the mapping of certain “built in” properties poses problems for certain objects, in particular. So in some cases we have duplicated the built-in property and it is this duplicated property that must be completed. You just have to look at the properties displayed in the objects to know if this is the case or not. We have listed below the other anomalies or exceptions.
Architecture and structure objects :
- Object “Gutter” : no property of this object works.
- Attribute “Class.Type”: does not work for the objects “Chimney” (IFC2x3), “Curtain Wall”, “Ramp” and “Building”.
- Attribute “Class.Type”: there are no types in the IFC2x3 scheme for “Furniture”, “Door” and “Window”.
- Material” attribute: does not work for “Chimney”
- Property “Carrier Element”:
- The built-in property has been used for the objects “Slab”, “Slab on grade” and “wall”.
- A custom property has been used for the objects “Threaded footing”, “Insulated footing”, “Foundation sill”, “Pile”, “Foundation box”, “Column”, “Beam”, “Ramp”, “and “Structural element”.
- Property “Exterior”:
- A custom property was created for all objects in Revit. Indeed, the Built-in property was not conclusive and stable.
- Please note that the generated configuration file has been manually modified for “Slab on grade” due to a generation problem, no action is required as long as you do not use BIMQ to generate custom configuration files yourself.
- Property “Thermal transmission” : does not work for “Curtain wall”.
- Attribute “Classification Uniformat II 2010 Number”: this property does not exist for the “spaces” because not foreseen in the classification.
- Attribute “Classification Uniformat II 2010 Description”: this property does not exist for the “spaces” because not foreseen in the Classification.
MEP objects:
- Property “Type of airflow”: to assign a value to this property, you have to connect the pipe to a terminal (such as a mouth), then the value of the property would be specified in the pipe automatically.
- Property “Class.Type” : does not work for “Electricity – Table” (IFC2x3)
- Voltage” property: does not work for “Electricity – Lighting” (IFC2x3), “Electricity – Emergency Lighting” (IFC2x3)
- Property “Nominal power” : the property does not work for the object “Cold production” (IFC2x3)
- Nominal consumption power” property: the property does not work for the “Cold production” object (IFC2x3)
- Property “Radiator type” : finned tube, panel, section, tubular – not available in IFC2x3 for object “Heat diffusion, radiator (centralized or not)
- Voltage” property: the Pset for the “Voltage” property has been changed from Pset (which exists in the IFC2x3 schema) to ePset to make it work in IFC2x3, otherwise the property does not appear in IFC.
