General
A door is a construction element that serves mainly to provide controlled access to persons and goods. It mainly takes the form of vertical openings but also includes horizontal openings (hatches). A door generally consists of a frame (fixed part) and one or more panels (moving parts), plus accessories such as hinges and pivoting, sliding or folding hardware. It can also incorporate solar or blackout protection.
